The fieldstone rooms of this vibrant, history-rich factory complex carry the stories of fish processing workers. The walls here speak of the sea and storms, sun and long stretches of beach, the charm and pain of life, fish and mermaids. Our Guest Theatres
Situated among the junipers on the edge of a far-off island across the sea lies Viscosa, whose towering cultural beacon draws theater lovers from the mainland and neighboring islands alike. In Viscosa’s very first season in the summer of 2023, Piip ja Tuut played ten performances in the Silk Hall (Siidisaal), which had been adapted into a theater venue. In the summers that followed, more and more theater companies have traveled to the Viscosa stage with an ever-growing number of productions.
Tartu Uus Teater
For the first time at Viscosa! In the summer of 2026, Tartu Uus Teater brings the productions „Soosteri koolkond„ and „Tuhandenäoline kangelane„ to Viscosa.
Nuutrum
Returning to the Viscosa theater stage for a second summer, Teatre Nuutrum brings the productions „Venus karusnahas„ and „Härra Ibrahim„ to Viscosa for the 2026 season.
Piip ja Tuut
This season, Piip ja Tuut will play four performances at the Viscosa theater, performing the production „Onu Ööbik„ for the first time.
By bus from Tallinn to the Viscos Theater
In collaboration with Tiit Reisid, a cultural trip from Tallinn to Viscos will take place on August 1, 2026 , to see the performance “Jänki seiklused Hiiumaal”. Keep an eye out for the ad and come to Viscos!

I’ve been dreaming for a while about an inspiring summer production process in a particularly nice place in Estonia. Ask and you shall receive. I was given Hiiumaa and Viscosa, and to be honest, it’s hard to imagine a better place to be creative. The ‘something’ of Hiiumaa starts to take over as soon as you step on board the ferry, by the time you reach Kõrgessaarde the island air is deep in your lungs and there is no turning back – your heart is taken.
The fact that there is such a cultural oasis in one corner of Estonia is a real utopia, backed by very dedicated and passionate people who are doing a very charming thing – this can be felt by anyone who gives themselves the opportunity to experience the activities of Visco in Hiiumaa.

No accommodation in Hiiumaa is far away, but the closest to the Viscosa Culture Factory, just a short walk away, is the cosy guesthouse Utoopia Nr 9 with restaurant and delicious breakfast.
