How to get to Hiiumaa?
Want to come to Viscosa but not sure how to get here? First, you need to make it across the sea to Hiiumaa island. If your friend’s speedboat or your grandpa’s helicopter happens to be in the shop, you can always do what the locals do and take the ferry.
The ferry comfortably fits buses, cars, motorbikes and bicycles. And the vehicles that fit best are the ones with a ticket bought in advance — the earlier, the better! On a clear day, you might be treated to a stunning sea view, letting the routines of the mainland fall away as you step onto the island with an open mind, ready for either adventure or rest.
If you want to get here extra fast, fly in! And if the weather plays along, the view from the window is stunning.

It doesn’t matter whether you arrive in Heltermaa or Kalana – all roads lead to Viscosa.

Hiiumaa has been reached, now what? It all depends on whether you want to get to Viscosa by a more direct route, or take a detour?
If you are coming to Hiiumaa by car, you can set your own route and, if you have the right equipment, print Viscosa Cultural Factory as your destination, there is no other place with that name in Hiiumaa or anywhere else in the world!
If you left your car on the other side of the sea or arrived by plane, you can take a regular bus, hire a car on the island or hire a taxi.

Tuhandenäoline kangelane
Who knows who Joseph Campbell is? I don’t know either. And yet we’ve all seen one or two movies in our lives where the hero leaves home, goes on the most amazing adventures, and returns as the keeper of a secret.

Abielutunnistus

TEATER NUUTRUM
Mr. Ibrahim
On a street called Blue Street in a Parisian suburb, a special friendship begins between a little boy and an old spice merchant. Beginning with petty thefts and a dialogue that started with just one sentence a day, their friendship develops into a deep mutual understanding and a shared philosophy of life.
TEATER NUUTRUM
Venus in a Fur Coat
David Ives’s play tells the story of a meeting between director Thomas and actress Vanda at an audition, which turns into a showdown in which reality and pretense become blurred, and the question “Who will come out on top?” has a different answer each time.
LENDTEATER
Erik ja Anna

Conference
The conference asks whether resource scarcity can be a blessing.
The conference brings together creators, entrepreneurs, developers and thinkers to discuss one of today’s most pressing questions: how do we create culture and creativity when money always seems to be scarce? The conference will be held in Estonian.
Tickets for the annual exhibition of the Estonian Textile Artists’ Association and the painting exhibition “Baltic New Painting” are available.
EXHIBITION
SMS. WIFI. OK. New Baltic Painting
An exhibition of works by young Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian painters will take place from 20.06–30.09.2026 at the Viscosa Cathedral and Painting Hall Gallery. The exhibition will open on 20 June 2026. Admission to the exhibition is with a joint exhibition ticket.
ESTONIAN TEXTILE ARTISTS’ ASSOCIATION’S EXHIBITION
La Viscosa. Textile Factory
It has been 111 years since the Viscosa artificial silk factory was founded. This is a beautiful number, and to celebrate it, Viscosa, in cooperation with the Estonian Textile Artists’ Union, is organizing a textile art exhibition. The exhibition will open on June 20, 2026. Admission to the exhibition is with a joint exhibition ticket.

Theatre
2026. Summer 2026 brings families to Viscosa Theatre for five captivating shows — a chance to feel, laugh and wonder together. Piip and Tuut and VAT Theatre will be performing on Hiiumaa island, Estonia.

Exhibitions
Viscosa Gallery is full of sculptures, colours and things to explore for kids, the young at heart, and everyone aged 1–111. You’ll have plenty to chat about — during your visit and afterwards.

Yard
Out in Viscosa’s yard, you can simply wander around, lounge in beanbags, watch the swallows, build sandcastles, eat ice cream, chat with your parents about the weather, swing — and practise your cycling skills on the pumptrack.

Creative Lab
The Creative Lab is a hands-on makers’ workshop where kids can build and create with an instructor’s guidance — through workshops or day camps. Think of it as the family craft cupboard and garage rolled into one… just cooler.
