MAARJA MEERU’S INSTALLATION

REFLECTIONS

20.06–31.10.2026

INSTALLATION AT VISCOSA CULTURE FACTORY

What if the sky begins at ground level?
What if what we consider infinite is born within touching distance?
Reflections do not only show us space.
They open a state we are already in.

Reflections

In the Steam House of Viscosa Culture Factory, light and air meet movement and memory. Around Hiiumaa stretches a sky that at times seems distant, at times within reach. As does memory.

A reflection is not merely an image. It creates the feeling that space continues, repeats or opens towards somewhere one cannot physically go. It erases the clear boundary between above and below, here and there, now and someday. It makes the viewer part of the image. It is a shift. A small deviation, where up can be down and distance can draw near.

Light repeats, disperses, returns.
A person creates the space, appears within it and dissolves into it once more.
A moment stretches longer than time itself.

The movement of air binds light and fabric — the visible is born from motion.

What if the sky begins at ground level?
What if what we consider infinite is born within touching distance?
Reflections do not only show us space.
They open a state we are already in.

The installation is located in Viscosa’s Steam House and is free to visit!
