What does Viscosa offer to creators?
Viscosa is a distinctive piece of industrial heritage with a truly unique story in Estonia’s cultural landscape — an experiential place where, instead of machine engines, creative energy now echoes through the walls.
- Creative residency — starting in July 2026
- A concert venue with both indoor (for 400–1,000 people) and outdoor spaces
- Three galleries for organising exhibitions.
- A black box–style hall for theatre productions, seating up to 200 guests, or the option for street theatre across the entire factory site.
- Support services — accommodation, catering, transport, technical production and marketing amplification via Viscosa’s channels.
- Junipers and grazing fields, with sea air that sets you free.
A stage without borders
Come create on the stages of Hiiumaa! The vast spaces of the Viscosa Cultural Factory, with their historic fieldstone walls combined with modern technical solutions, create a unique environment for theatrical art. The entire 12,000-square-meter factory complex can be used for groundbreaking, street-theater-style performances. The Siidisaal, a black-box-style venue with seating for up to 200, is perfect for more intimate theater productions.
Creators at Viscosa
2021. In 2021, the idea was born to transform the former Viscosa factory complex on Hiiumaa into a versatile Cultural Factory. Since then, many creators have brought MeelePuudutus — a touch of something deeper — to our guests at Viscosa, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has walked this journey alongside us and helped enrich Hiiumaa’s cultural life.
