Art – a creative retreat

Viscosa Culture Factory offers artists a unique opportunity to create and exhibit their works in spaces that stand out for their scale and atmosphere. The cathedral-like exhibition hall, with its high ceilings and vast openness, is ideal for showcasing large-scale and monumental works. Baltic new paintig

In the summer of 2026, the exhibition “Baltic New Painting” brings to the Viscosa factory gallery a selection of fresh, polyphonic Baltic painting pulsing with many voices.  150 artists between the ages of 40 and 50 from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, offering viewers a cross-section of how a new generation uses, shifts and redefines painting in an era where visual space is fast, digital and saturated. The exhibition is curated by Reigo Kuivjõgi. The exhibition runs from 20 June to 31 October 2026.

Reflections

A reflection creates the sense that space continues, repeats itself, or opens into somewhere we cannot physically reach. It erases the clear boundary between above and below, here and there, now and then, making the viewer’s image part of the whole. The movement of air binds light and fabric together — the visible comes into being through movement. Reflections do not merely show us space. They open a state of being we already inhabit.

With the textile exhibition “Reflections” by Maarja Meeru, Viscosa marks the 111th anniversary of the founding of the La Viscosa artificial silk, or viscose, factory. The exhibition runs from 20 June to 31 October 2026.

Art that opens new perspectives

Exhibitions 2025

Exhibition of nature photographs “Hiiumaa – state of mind”

The exhibition is over

The exhibition created by curator Ülle Puustusmaa features large-format works by photographers inspired by the nature of Hiiumaa: Kaja Hiis, Toomas Kokovkin, Meeli Küttim, Tiit Leito, Pääro Metsand, Argo Nurs and Viive Kai Rebane.

Hiiumaa’s nature and Hiiumaa’s essence act as a time-saver, a touch to the senses, an inspiration, a boundary-shifting force in every season. So too Viscosa. The massive walls and powerful volume of the Steam House act as a contrasting backdrop and amplifier to the nature-inspired work.

Photographs are available for purchase – information in the exhibition hall.

Estonian’s Sculptors Union’s annual exhibition “FANTOOM”

The exhibition is over.

This summer in Hiiumaa you’ll see something never seen before – the largest exhibition of contemporary sculpture, where 40 works by 34 sculptors will create a unique spatial experience in Viscosa’s powerful Cathedral gallery.

Created by curator Elo Liivi , “FANTOOM” is not an exhibition, but a journey into a world of visual and spatial stories – the works do not just stand on the wall, but form a whole world that invites movement. It is a profound experience of space, form and the invisible – the very things that sometimes haunt every human life. Even if you don’t usually go to exhibitions, something very personal can reach you here – through shadows, shapes, silence or… a child’s screams.

Among the participants will be top Estonian sculptors such as Edith Karlson, Jass Kaselaan, Elo Liiv, Kirke Kangro, Tauno Kangro, Mare Mikof and many others.

Navitrolla “I am what I paint. You are what you see”

The exhibition is over.

Playing on the border between fantasy and reality, Navitrolla brings an exhibition to the walls of the Viscosa Art Cafe for the summer, perfectly in tune with the creative atmosphere of Viscosa. You can enjoy the café’s tasty dishes alongside the paintings. If you really like a painting, you can even buy it for yourself.
