Art – a creative retreat

Viscosa Culture Factory offers artists a unique opportunity to create and exhibit their works in spaces that stand out for their scale and atmosphere. The cathedral-like exhibition hall, with its high ceilings and vast openness, is ideal for showcasing large-scale and monumental works. Viscosa Culture Factory inspires artists to push creative boundaries while offering visitors an immersive sensory experience.

Art that opens new perspectives

Inspiration from Nature and Industrial Heritage

Art is about seeing art within art. Whether you come from an office, a forest, a factory, or a field, there is always something here to discover, admire, or critique. Hiiumaa’s unique character immerses you in a mindset where it’s easy to embrace new perspectives.

Limitless Possibilities for Creativity

At Viscosa, you have the freedom to experiment with ideas, whether fully formed or still evolving! Whether your work is realistic or abstract, naive or expressionist, or sailing through any other artistic movement, Viscosa welcomes it all. Here, your only task is to create, while our team takes care of everything else.

Collaboration in an International Artistic Community

Engaging with other artists, curators, and gallerists expands professional networks and fosters new collaborations between artists and their creative partners. This is a place where ideas take flight, and different fields come together to create something greater. Just throw your idea into the air, and watch it take shape!

2025. Exhibitions in summer 2025

Exhibition of nature photographs “Hiiumaa – state of mind”

The exhibition is over

The exhibition created by curator Ülle Puustusmaa features large-format works by photographers inspired by the nature of Hiiumaa: Kaja Hiis, Toomas Kokovkin, Meeli Küttim, Tiit Leito, Pääro Metsand, Argo Nurs and Viive Kai Rebane.

Hiiumaa’s nature and Hiiumaa’s essence act as a time-saver, a touch to the senses, an inspiration, a boundary-shifting force in every season. So too Viscosa. The massive walls and powerful volume of the Steam House act as a contrasting backdrop and amplifier to the nature-inspired work.

Photographs are available for purchase – information in the exhibition hall.

Estonian’s Sculptors Union’s annual exhibition “FANTOOM”

The exhibition is over.

This summer in Hiiumaa you’ll see something never seen before – the largest exhibition of contemporary sculpture, where 40 works by 34 sculptors will create a unique spatial experience in Viscosa’s powerful Cathedral gallery.

Created by curator Elo Liivi , “FANTOOM” is not an exhibition, but a journey into a world of visual and spatial stories – the works do not just stand on the wall, but form a whole world that invites movement. It is a profound experience of space, form and the invisible – the very things that sometimes haunt every human life. Even if you don’t usually go to exhibitions, something very personal can reach you here – through shadows, shapes, silence or… a child’s screams.

Among the participants will be top Estonian sculptors such as Edith Karlson, Jass Kaselaan, Elo Liiv, Kirke Kangro, Tauno Kangro, Mare Mikof and many others.

Navitrolla “I am what I paint. You are what you see”

The exhibition is over.

Playing on the border between fantasy and reality, Navitrolla brings an exhibition to the walls of the Viscosa Art Cafe for the summer, perfectly in tune with the creative atmosphere of Viscosa. You can enjoy the café’s tasty dishes alongside the paintings. If you really like a painting, you can even buy it for yourself.
